Indigenous Hockey Coaching Grant

As part of our ongoing commitment to fulfilling the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Calls to Action for sport, CAO and Hydro One are excited to launch the 2nd annual Indigenous Hockey Coaching Grant.
Open to coaches participating in the 2024 Little Native Hockey League (LNHL), this fund aims to help remove barriers and make hockey more affordable and accessible to coaches from Indigenous communities.
Funding Available
- 35 grants of up to $1,500 CDN in funding per recipient.
Eligibility
- Open to all coaches participating in the 2024 Little Native Hockey Tournament (LNHL) who reside and/or coach in Ontario.
Examples of Eligible Expenses
- Travel expenses (i.e., to and from training/competitions/professional development events)
- Training (i.e., NCCP training, hiring a consultant/speaker/expert)
- Child care (i.e. during practice, competition, tournaments, coach training/professional development events)
- Event fees (i.e., registration fee(s) for attending an event)
- Equipment (i.e., replacing old/worn/unsafe equipment, investing in new types of equipment)
- Any other expenses that you can demonstrate directly contribute to removing barrier(s) to your coaching and have a positive impact on your athletes and community.
Timelines
- Applications open March 11, 2024
- Applications close March 25, 2024
- Recipients notified April 29, 2024
Selected recipients have until March 31, 2025 to submit purchases.
